Sean left Jenn's place and drove aimlessly. Okay, well maybe it wasn't so aimless after all. He pulled into the parking place near the Shooters entrance. He sat in his car for a few minutes still reeling from what happened at Jenn's. He was angry and seeing Brett act the way he did just pissed him off that much more. He was still seething, but part of him felt like a complete fool. When he had realized who Jenn was, why didn't he just walk away? Maybe because he felt something for her that made him feel safe and stable. Maybe that was something that should have been a red flag.
He took a deep breath and slid out of the car. He walked slowly into the bar. He needed a stiff drink or two or three. Sliding up onto a barstool, he leaned heavily against the bar. His brow and likely his entire facial expression remained tense. He was relieved to see Evan behind the bar, "Hey man." He nodded offering a weak smile.
"Hey buddy....what the heck happened to you?" he asked, chuckling as he fetched Sean a beer and slid it in front of him. "Looks like you've got a swollen lip there." He twisted off the cap of a Bud Light and took a swig from it. "Looks like you could use more than a beer...."
Ever since Sean Alexander returned to town, Evan served as a drinking buddy to him, an almost confident. He watched first hand what his absence had done to his younger sister Kate, and while he couldn't control her actions, he wished she would just make an intelligent choice for once. Her playing house with Wes wasn't something he condoned, even though he had no qualms with Wes himself. In fact, he was quite fond of the guy. But he didn't care for their arrangement any more than most people did.
Sean shrugged and leaned back, "That's the question of the day isn't it? In all honesty I'm not sure exactly what happened...it was either that sucker punch that the coward through at me or it could have been any variety of dildos, vibrators, or tubes of lube that flew around during our altercation." He took the bottle of beer, held it briefly to his eye before taking a long drink of the cold brew.
He was oblivious to just how Springeresque his statement just sounded and didn't notice the sudden interest that seemed to be piqued by those around him especially Evan. "I swear to god, man, I don't know what Kate ever saw in that asshole."
Evan had to laugh. Dildos, lube? He picked up his beer and took a rather long swig from it, as Sean's words tossed around in his head.
"You went to the party, didn't you?" he asked flat out, referring to the little girly get together his girlfriend was attending that evening at Sean's girlfriend's house. He wasn't sure where Kate came into play in all this, so he waited for more information. "Dude.. how do you get into a fight at one of those parties?"
"I didn't actually mean to go to the party. I thought tonight was the night that Jenn and I were supposed to get together. I was wrong on an epic scale," he shook his head. Took a long drink of beer, "Can you believe that asshole was dancing BUTT naked in front of those girls including his own sister? What kind of a family does that?!"
"Sorry but uh...who are we talking about again?" he asked, a confused expression on his face.
"Brett, you know the guy who supposedly fathered Kate's baby girl," he looked at Evan confused. "Isn't that who were were talking about?" he took a deep drink of his beer.
He raised his brows, "You lost me after the dildos and lube..." he said, then shook his head, "Brett? No shit, man. He did this to you?" he asked, motioning to Sean's face, "Please tell me he looks far worse."
"I'm pretty sure he does," Sean responded to Evan's question. Pointing to his own face, "This is the result of a sucker punch not because he got a real shot in during the course of the fight. Can you believe him? Stripping at his own sister's adult toy party."
Evan spit his sip of beer out, "What??" he asked, now laughing, "You telling me this guy was... " His expression then changed to show concern, "Wait a min.....Tasha was at a party where there was a male stripper?" He wasn't so sure how to handle that idea. He wasn't a controlling boyfriend by any means but something like that...well, he would have expected to be notified at least. "That is sick. So you uh... beat his ass, huh?" He raised his beer in attempt to knock bottles with Sean's, "Welcome to the club."
"Trust me, he didn't get half of what he deserved," Sean clinked his glass with Evan's. He pulled the wad of hair out of his pocket, "You think you can get this to Kate? I'm pretty sure she doesn't want to see me, but figured she might want a hair sample from dickwad for a paternity test so I got her one."
His eyes took in the hair in Sean's palm. Giving another confused look, Evan shook his head, "Well, I'm pretty sure Kate already knows he's the father. I mean... she never questioned it. As far as confirming it... well, she's pretty dead set on him not having anything to do with Kayley anyway. So what would be the point?"
"The point is that it's damn time someone held him accountable..." Sean clenched his jaw. "No one ever holds him accountable for anything - it's damn time he was held accountable." He was still pretty agitated after the fight with Brett but the beer was starting to calm him down.
"Look, don't get mad at me for saying this... because I'm totally siding with you. I am. Trust me, I've had this same conversation with Kate on more than one occasion." Evan said, only pausing to take another drink, "But the point is.. Kate's gonna do what she's gonna do. If she doesn't want this prick to be Kayley's dad... guess what? He's not."
Sean pursed his lips tightly, "You know what pisses me off more than anything, man?" His jaw set, "She chose Wes over me..." He pushed back from the bar, dropped a few bucks to cover his beer and then some on the counter and started to walk out.
Evan shook his head. Sean was too darn stubborn to talk to anyone about anything."She didn't choose anyone." He collected the money from the bar and handed the tip to one of the barmaids as she passed by. "But uh... keep tellin yourself that buddy! Have a good one!" he called out as Sean headed out.
Sean stopped, "Look, Evan, maybe that's the way it looks from your point of view...that she didn't choose a gay guy to set up house with. But from my point of view, that's EXACTLY what she did." He frowned at Evan, "I don't really expect you to understand how it feels from my perspective. When you say she didn't choose it's like you're saying that none of this was because of her own choices and that's simply not true. She had ample time to come back to me and make things right, yet she didn't, did she? She chose instead to pass that baby off as Wes' something you and I both know is ludicrous to believe all the while Brett skates off...he had his cake and ate it too. And what's worse...he's continuing to do the exact same thing he did to Kate to other girls cause guys like you and girls like Kate and Jenn allow it. There will be plenty more Kates in his bedpost unless someone grows a pair and holds him accountable for the messes he's leaving behind for someone else to clean up."
Evan leaned on the counter, talking to Sean from across the bar, "How do you know he's just gonna magically stop screwing girl after girl just because he's have a child to send money to once a month? Because ya know what? That's all that baby would be to him. He's not gonna take Kayley to the park. He's not gonna keep her overnight and give her a bath. If he's held accountable, Sean... the only thing that will change is Kate getting some child support each month." he explained. "Personally I think she'd rather have a father."
"Then I guess problem solved," Sean stood at the end of the bar still facing the door. "Kaylee has a father," he inwardly groaned. Why the hell did he care? He knew exactly why he cared so damn much. Because he had wanted to be Kaylee's father, he wanted to be there for Kate...to be there for Andy. He'd fallen in love with the boy in such a short amount of time. He didn't understand how something he had wanted so badly had been so harshly ripped from him. Sean was angry that Wes got the happy ending he'd so desparately wanted.
Evan shrugged, "Trust me, man. No one thinks what she's doing is what's best for her but... you know Kate has to learn that the hard way."
Sean listened to what Evan had to say but never fully turned back around to sit back down at the bar. He nodded, "Yeah, I guess so, man." When had things gotten so complicated? When had Kate changed so much he barely recognized her anymore? He ran his fingers through his hair and waved, "I'll see ya later man. Thanks for the beer." He walked toward the door pushing it open as he decided he'd just go home.
"Whoa, excuse me!" Kate exclaimed as she went to enter Shooters and ran into someone on their way out. She took a step back and looked up to find that the man in front of her was Sean Alexander. Immediately her breath felt as if it were just sucked right out of her. "Sean?" she smiled, "What are you...." Her eyes then fixated on the obvious bruise on his face, along with his swollen lip. "Oh my God, what happened to you?"
"Nothing...happened," his eyes widened when he almost ran right into Kate. "I um...just got into an altercation with a door. Damn thing sucker punched me..." he deadpanned. "Trust me the door looks worse..."
Running on pure instinct, she reached up and lightly caressed his bruising face. "A door? Damn... that looks horrible." she said, "How is that even possible?"
"Skill...it took more skill than I even knew I had," he flinched when she reached up and touched his face. He was pretty damn sure he was going to spontaneously combust any moment now just for lying to her. "It'll be okay...the door I mean, it'll at least survive," he smiled slightly.
She frowned, not sure whether or not to buy his story about running into a door. A door gave him a busted lip and a bruised cheek? Shifting her weight, she looked at him, "Seriously? Why don't I believe you? Did you get into another fight with Wes?"
"It probably looks a lot worse than it really is," Sean couldn't help but to stare at her. Damn, did she always just get more beautiful or was it the sucker punch that had made his vision all jacked up. "You headed in to see your brother? He was behind the bar." He offered the little tidbit of information in hopes he'd soon be off the hook.
She knew she probably shouldn't but... it was hard to resist. Kate reached out and lightly took his hand, "Heyyy... will you have a drink with me before you go?" she asked, giving him the works : batty eyes and full bottom lip.
Oh my god! Sean thought to himself. How the hell was he supposed to turn that down? He nodded and smiled, "Yeah sure..." He turned back to the door and held it open for her. "Wes have the kids?" He asked not because he was being nosey but just cause he thought it was the right thing to ask.
She headed toward the bar with Sean right behind her. "Yea... he gets to spend tomorrow night with Dean so we're even." she smiled, hopping up on the stool. She was greeted by the bartender, who recognized her and grabbed her favorite drink before setting a cold one in front of Sean. "Listen... I wanna apologize for the last time..." she started, looking over at him with a frown, "I should have never said the things I said."
He nodded, "Yeah, well, you did say it and you're right. It's really none of my business how you're doing especially when I'm seeing someone else..." He cupped his hands around the bottle but then thought better of the warming effect it would have if he kept them there. "Wes was right, you were right, Jenn is right, Brett's right ... hell even Evan is right." He took a long drink of the beer, "None of it is my business - I don't have any right to ask about you or to even care." He sat the bottle down on the counter and took a deep breath.
She stared at him a moment before shaking her head and speaking, "Screw that." she said, "If someone told me I wasn't allowed to care about you... well I think I'd be a little pissed off."
"Is that right?" he glanced at her. "I guess it's convenient enough now for you to say something like that given we've both moved on with our lives." He took another long drink of the beer, "Look, I'd love to sit and you know shoot the bull with you like one of the boys, but I need to get home. Get some ice on this eye, study...or wash my hair or something."
Kate frowned, "Did you just use the 'wash my hair' excuse on me?"
He nodded, "Yeah, you know how my hair gets when it's not washed. All greasy and stuff...really gross..." he shrugged and settled onto the barstool despite his protests.
"Okay okay, ONE beer..." technically it was his second but he wasn't exactly counting now.
She smiled and waved down the bartender, happy to get her way. "I'll have another round, please!" she ordered before turning her attention back to Sean. Propping her chin on her fist, Kate gazed at him, "How's school and everything?"
"Schools good, everything else...not so good. Even the door has it in for me," he laughed lightly then took a long draw on the beer. "You? I mean not school, but how's everything with you?"
Kate picked up her drink and sipped on it before replying with a nod, "Good... good. I mean... as good as it can be I suppose between running my own business and juggling two kids. I just thank God I'm not in for soccer mom duty yet. I think I'd be out of mind if I had to run my kids here and there on top of everything else."
"I suspect that comes in time," he leaned on the bar, his elbows giving him the support he needed as he relaxed. "And how's Wes?"
Kate shrugged, "Oh, you know... same old, same old." she said, not sure what else to say, "He works a lot now that his boss opened a new restaurant and he splits his free time between Kayley and Dean. Other than that.. not much else to say."
Sean nodded, "Yeah...sounds like he's pretty busy." Before he could say anything else he took another drink of the beer, "What about you? Not that this place is that bad but how is it that you managed to get a night off and you came here?"
Kate smiled as she set her drink down, then using her hands to push her long blonde hair back from her face, "Well, Wes knows I've been pulling double time at the shop lately due to Beth selling out and leaving," she paused to roll her eyes briefly, "And since he's going to be spending the night at Dean's tomorrow, he offered to watch the kids tonight. He knows I've been craving a little alone time." She glanced over at him, "And you? Your girlfriend doesn't care that you're sitting in a bar talking to pretty girls?" she teased.
Turning his head to look at her, shrugging slightly, "Girlfriend had naked brother dancing in her apartment tonight for a room full of unsuspecting women. After that little soiree and the following discussion about the appropriateness of such a celebration, I'd say I have re-attained my singular status." He smiled thinking himself smart for using such big words.
He smirked slightly, "I'm not talking to pretty girls...I'm talking to A pretty girl. There's no plural there."
Kate barely heard the compliment in his last words because her mind was still soaking in the previous information. "What?" she asked, confused, "What are you talking about? Wes was dancing naked for a room full of girls? That's so... unlike him."
Sean laughed, "Wes?" He had to think about that for a few minutes, "Not to say that Wes couldn't likely dance for girls, but no, not Wes...Brett." He took another drink of beer, "You know I still don't see what you saw in that guy. He's an ass..."
She nearly choked on her drink. "You... met Brett?" she asked, suddenly feeling uneasy about what kind of encounter that might have been. She then took note of his face again and an idea hit her. "Sean Marion Alexander..." she said, sounding not to different from his mother, "Tell me that door you ran into wasn't about 5'7 with brown hair and brown eyes."
"Naked...and I beat the hell out of him with a pink vibrating rabbit thing....a dildo or it might have been a butt plug," he spoke about it as though it was the most natural thing for two people to be discussing at the bar over a pair of beers.
He turned and smiled broadly at Kate, clearly proud of the fact he'd launched into her baby daddy. "I think if his parents had been hamsters, he would have been the baby the mother ate." He nodded still grinning like an idiot.
She reached over and swatted his back, "Sean! That is not nice." she said, though she could barely stiffle her laughter. She had a clear image of Sean beating the crap out of a naked Brett... using sexual tools. Suddenly her hands wrapped around her stomach as she nearly died laughing. "Oh my God! I cannot believe you!"
"You can't believe me?! I can't believe you actually slept with a schmuck like that..." he quirked a brow. "I mean seriously, Kate? I remember when you at least had taste..."
He nudged her with his elbow, "Come on, he's a pussy...that's what the rabbit is for right?"
"Yea, tell me about it..." Kate muttered as she picked up her drink and finished it off before ordering them both another. "It's all your fault, ya know." she said, earning a stare from Sean, "If you'd never went off to the military and just married me right outta high school... " she trailed off with a laugh.
"I would have but you never returned my phone calls or my letters, Kate," Sean looked at her seriously. "When I came by the house, your mom informed me you'd moved on..." He shook his head, "What was I supposed to do?"
She let out a big and heavy sigh, "I know... I'm sorry about that." She glanced over at him and gave him a weak smile, "I know what not to do in my second life, that's for sure."
"What about what to do in the rest of this one?" his eyes settled on hers for a moment. He swallowed hard, damn her. Picking up his beer, he finished it off, "I should probably get on home now."
She held his gaze longer than she should have, because her stomach was doing all kinds of somersaults. Clearing her throat when he mentioned heading home, she nodded, but waved over the bartender, "Let's do one more. A shot!"
Nodding, he didn't want to seem like a lightweight, "One shot...then...you know I need to get going." He cleared his throat, taking the shot, glancing at her, "You know...I'm glad we ran into each other tonight."
He was pretty sure it was the alcohol already in his system but damn...Kate looked really good tonight. Quickly as if that might stave off any physical reaction he was having to her, he slammed the shot back.
Kate did the shot with him and set the empty glass down on the counter with a grin. "Man, that was good!" She felt the burn moving down her throat, giving her an instant buzz. Tonight was exactly what she needed. Pulling her wallet out, she tossed some money down by the glass. "I think I'll head home too. Walk me out?" she asked, climbing down from the stool and nearly losing her balance. "Whoa!"
"Absolutely," he stood and quickly reached over to steady her. "You alright?" his hands lingered on her for a few moments longer than they probably should have.
God damn, it felt good to touch her. Maybe it was the liquor...maybe it was his disappointment with Jenn...
She waved it off with a chuckle, "Yea, yea... I'm fine. When have you ever known me to be a lightweight?" she asked as she grabbed her purse so that they could head out to the parking lot. As soon as they began walking, she immediately knew she was buzzing pretty bad. Damn bartender probably hooked her up with an extra shot in her drinks like he normally did.
"Here's me." she pointed to the car that Wes allowed her to borrow. She paused next to it as she dug inside her purse for the keys, dropping them as soon she pulled them out. "Damn it... "
Sean walked with her to the car and stepped back as she dropped the keys, he bent over with her, his hand closing on hers as she grabbed the keys from the ground. His eyes connected with hers and he froze. He was almost breathless when he spoke, "Kate..."
The instant his hand closed over hers, she knew that she was going to have a hard time saying good night to him. Her heart pounded in her chest the second he spoke her name and as soon as those blue eyes of his claimed her own... she was speechless. Swallowing hard, her mind raced every which way, not exactly giving her a solid decision on what to do next. They'd had a great time tonight, having a few drinks along with some laughs. She couldn't deny the chemistry that remained between them, that would probably never fade away.
Her chest heaved as she breathed in and out while they simply stared at each other, neither one of them willing to break the gaze first.
Kate would always love Sean, no matter who she ended up with. He was her first real love and she couldn't imagine feeling that way about anyone else. A little voice inside her head kept telling her to knock it off, that he could never be happy with her.
She began to grin at him. Since when did she ever listen to that nagging little voice? Or anyone's voice for that matter.
Slowly, she stood up straight and leaned against her car, twirling the keyring around her finger, "I should really go." she said. Who the hell was she kidding? "It was really nice seeing you tonight."
"Yeah, I should go too, I um...so I guess good night," he smiled at her and stepped toward her giving her a somewhat awkward hug as he attempted to say good night. He kissed her cheek softly, lingering for a bit longer than necessary.
Well, damn. She just had to go ahead and inhale his scent when he leaned in close, didn't she? "Yea... good night..." She leaned in and gave him an awkward kiss on his cheek as well, feeling as if they were somehow sixteen all over again, saying good night on their first date.
He stepped back, his eyes moving to hers and he forgot exactly what he was supposed to be doing again, "Alright, it was good to see you." He smiled, "Tell Andy I said hey and we'll have to plan a kite day sometime soon." He stepped toward her clearly having forgotten that he'd already hugged her once. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her much closer this time. He hugged her curling his body around hers.
When his arms wrapped around her, she seriously couldn't breathe, and not because he was squeezing her... but because of the act itself. Sean was pressed up against her. He was, as he said, a single man, and.... it was clear the attraction between them was undeniably strong. "Definitely..." she managed to say after a moment, responding to his kite idea. "Andy would love that." She kissed his cheek again but somehow her lips caught the corner of his mouth. Lifting her eyes to meet his, their lips lingered barely an inch away before Kate gave in.
She instantly placed her arms around his neck as she deepened their kiss, going against every instinct that was telling her she shouldn't.
He kissed her back, his body crashing into hers as he pushed her against the car behind her. His hands moved over her clothes as he kissed her hungrily. He suddenly felt like a kid again. He couldn't get enough of her, his hands couldn't explore enough of her. "Kate..." he half groaned into her mouth. His mouth claimed hers again.
Her hands raked through his hair, grabbing parts of it as she pulled him closer to her, not wanting his lips to leave hers. Being pinned against her car by him made her want him even more. They needed to go somewhere NOW, before she exploded. "Sean...." she said in between their hungry kisses. Moving her hands lower, they felt his strong arms, then his chest, before eventually stopping at the waist of his pants. "My God, I need you..." She reached her arms around, grabbing a handful of ass, giving it a hard squeeze.
He held her close pinning her against the car. He nodded, "My place is closer...god, Kate..." he pulled her toward his car. His hands hungry on her body as he tried to focus on getting them into the car.
With the alcohol pumping through her body, she tried to follow him without falling flat on her face. Managing to make it in one piece, she stood behind him as he fumbled with his keys, her arms wrapped around his waist while she kissed on his neck. "Hurryyyyyy...."She was more than willing to leave the car there while she left to rock Sean's world, regardless of the fact that it wasn't even her car.
Sean quickly unlocked the door but damn he couldn't move fast enough. He opened the door for her, barely let her get in and settled before he slammed it shut. He damn near ran to the driver's side and jumped into the car. He started it as he was putting on his seat bealt. He was pulling out of the parking lot as the seat belt clicked into place.
One would think that in the time it took for them to get to his place, he might have thought differently about what they were certain to do. But no such thought was currently crossing his mind. All he could think about was how good it was going to feel to be naked against her.
Kate scooted practically into his lap as he drove them back to his place. She kissed, bit, and sucked on his neck, leaving marks that resembled the bruising on his face. She didn't care. Right now she felt like a damn school girl... she was going to act like one.
They devoured each other up the stairwell of his apartment building, unbuttoning clothes as they made their way to his door. Somehow he managed to unlock the door with his lips glued to hers. As soon as the door closed behind them, clothes began flying off. Their breathing turned into panting as they dragged one another through the apartment, tripping over furniture as they couldn't quite settle on a place to make love. They could be on the rooftop, she wouldn't care. She wanted him right now. Her heart never pounded so loud and clear before. No man could ever get her going the way Sean Alexander did.
Sean's breath caught as he fell back onto the bed and pulled her up and on top of him. His hands were grateful that their clothes were littered somewhere else in his apartment. "God, Kate...what'd you slip in my drink," he half laughed half moaned as they devoured each other.
Kate laughed as she looked down from her position on top of him, her hair lightly grazing his bare chest. "Please...I don't need to drug you to get you into bed." she teased, "All I have to do is this..." She leaned down with a grin and began kissing his neck again.
"Oh you are so right.." she'd always been able to get him going by doing that and it seemed things would never change.
******
Bathed in sweat, panting heavily, Sean dropped back onto his pillow. He and Kate had been going at each other for a couple of hours and it seemed finally they were starting to find their saturation level. Sean looked at her, his fingertips lightly caressing her hair away from her face.
Her body shivered from the aftermath of her last orgasm. My God, he really knew her body well. She laid on her back, turning her head to look at him as he played with her hair. There were many things she wanted to say to him...but she honestly didn't think it was the time. They had just had sex practically hours after he broke up with Jenn. Kate knew what they were doing was very risky. Hell, she didn't even know what it meant. Honestly, what she just did tonight ran on pure spontaneity. She didn't jump into it thinking they were going to be together tomorrow. The only thought going through her head was how badly she wanted to be with him. When did Kate ever think about consequences when she made decisions?
Looking at him, she flashed a soft smile, "We're so gonna need a shower."
He shook his head, "No...just lay with me for a while." He scooted closer to her as if that was possible, his arms wrapping around her. He knew if he let her go to take a shower, she'd likely slip out the door and he wasn't quite ready to be alone without her just yet.
Well, she couldn't deny that she missed his cuddling. His arms always made her feel so secure, so loved. Turning on her side so that they were facing each other, she gently kissed his bottom lip before reaching up to lightly trace her fingertips across it. "You're crazy, you know that?" she gave him a smile, "Getting into a fight...."
"I told you it was a door...a dumb one..." he grinned at her amused by the analogy. His eyes were heavy as he stared at her. He knew he couldn't ask her to spend the night. She had little ones at home that would want their mommy if they woke up and found her gone. But that didn't stop him from wanting her to stay the night.
Her fingers moved to his cheek, where the beginnings of a bruise were developing. "You're right about that..." she said, her eyes dancing over his handsome face, regardless of whatever flaws were currently there. "I don't need you getting in trouble over me, Sean." Her voice was soft, not at all demanding or forceful. She was simply letting him know that it wasn't worth it. "You're better than that." Closing her eyes, she softly kissed his mouth.
He shook his head slowly, "No...I'd go to hell and back for you." His voice was soft as his body finally started to really relax and sleep began to sneak up on him. "Besides...what kind of trouble would I get into? I ran into a door." He smiled softly against her soft kiss.
She absolutely loved this man. How could she ever think that she could live without him? She knew he loved her and would do anything for her. Didn't she owe him the same in return? As corny as it might sound, they belonged together. There wasn't anyone in the world that could make her feel the way he did. Maybe she needed to quit being so dramatic and over-analytical and just let nature take its course. He was single now and Wes was getting ready to move out. Maybe it was... fate?
Taking his hand, she drew invisible hearts with her fingertips. "Sometimes doors swing back and hit you in the ass when you're not looking." she chuckled. Ha... just let that 'door' come anywhere near him and there would be hell to pay. She'd been avoiding Brett for a looong time but nothing would stop her from seeking him out if he dared starting any shit with Sean again.
"I'm pretty sure the door didn't hit my ass," he laughed lightly, his hand on his chest, his other arm wrapped around her. His eyes settled on hers, just watching her. "I'm pretty sure there's a saying about how one door closes...another opens or maybe it's when one door closes you should just jump out the window or something like that..."
She laughed, "Yea... something like that." Peering over his shoulder, she took a glance at his alarm clock on the nightstand. With a heavy sigh, she pouted, "I really need to get going soon." she said, giving his chest a kiss, "I wish I could stay but..." She kind of had two small children that could need their mommy in the middle of the night.
"I know," he sighed and rolled over onto his side, his body covering hers as he continued to roll. He kissed her lips, "The bed is going to be awfully lonely when I come back..." he softly kissed her lower lip sucking it gently. Sean groaned as he pulled his naked body from hers. He stood next to the bed and pulled on his jeans, grabbed a tshirt. "I'll drive you back to your car." He sat on the side of the bed, his hand moving along her bare back as she started to get dressed.
Kate really hated leaving his bed, but she was a mother and that called for certain responsibilities. Laying in a man's bed all night while her kids were home just wasn't cool.
Climbing out of his bed, she stood naked in the dark while she felt around for her clothes. "Ummm... I think I might have left a trail in your hallway." she laughed. She did find her panties and slipped them on before moving into the hallway, where she did find the rest of her clothes scattered.
Sean sighed the moment she left him cold in the bed. He knew she was right to want to get home to the kids, but it didn't abate his need to stay close to her for as long as possible. He eased out of the bed, finding his own underwear near to the bed. He slid them on as he stood and grabbed his jeans halfway to the door. His eyes stayed on her while she looked for her clothes, "You're beautiful...you know, Kate?" He stood there like an idiot holding his shirt, staring at her.
She felt the familiar butterfly swarm in her stomach when her eyes caught his. The way he was staring at her just brought so many things back to her, like the way they used to be so in love back when they shouldn't have even known what love was yet.
There were so many times when she missed her curfew because they were busy steaming up the windows of his dad's old Ford truck. There were even times when they snuck off into the backyard during holiday dinners so that could kiss behind a tree. Sean and Kate were head over heels and could barely keep their hands off of each other. It wasn't a wonder why her parents opposed their intense relationship, mainly her mother. Sean came from a single parent household, with his father working any blue collar job he could get his hands on. In the eyes of Mrs. Roberts... Sean just wasn't good enough for her daughter.
Kate smiled at his compliment, feeling her face blush in the darkness. "We better get going before we have round... five."
Sean smiled and then laughed lightly at her teasing threat. "Yeah, you're probably right." He pulled his shirt on and slid his feet into a pair of shoes. It didn't take him long to find his keys and he was ready to get her back to her car. He stopped her before they could get out the door and he pulled her into a long soft kiss.
There was so many regrets going through his head right now. He would have done just about anything to go back in time to when they were young and innocently exploring each other's bodies in his dad's old truck. He remembered clearly making out with her in that long bench seat on a dark road somewhere private.
She kissed him back, then wrapped her arms around him to embrace him for a few moments while breathing him in. It felt really good to be with him tonight. She didn't want to leave! She had kids at home that needed her though. Sean would have to wait...but she wasn't going to make him wait long. Not this time.
Pulling back, she looked up at his face, "I wanna see you later."
He smiled, holding her for a few moments until she pulled away and spoke. He nodded, "I want to see you too, Kate."
His hand on the door knob, he opened the door for her and then followed her back out into the darkness of early morning.
