Below are a list of rules for Remember Me Tomorrow (RMT). Many of them you will have seen before, others you will not but they are all here for a reason and everyone will be expected to not only read them but to abide by them also. Do not tl;dr (Too Long; Didn't Read) these rules. We will know if you did, and new players will not have their applications approved if they have not read the rules.
Some rules will be specific, others will not, but do not try to 'test' the rules. They can be amended by the Administration very easily and, really, do you want to be the person that caused a new rule to be added? We know we sure wouldn't in other games where we play.
If you have any questions - please be sure to contact us via the C-box or send us a message via the Q&A section.
Thou Shall Not Be A Douche!!
This one is pretty self explanatory. If you are by chance a douche, and you know this - just don't even bother applying. We expect you to respect your fellow writer, mods and yourself! In return you'll get the same thing! R-E-S-P-E-C-T find out what it'll mean to you!
We don't really have a set way to deal with complaints as we believe each case is different and will need to be dealt with differently. In the case you have a douche bag moment you could have characters taken from you, or even banned. Please don't even attempt to see how far you can push us, because though we like to think we're fair - we have a pretty low tolerance when it comes to wanky drama llama douche bag moments.
Do NOT take wanky internet drama onto our board! If you have a problem with someone here - leave that someplace else. We do NOT want to deal with it. Yes we know that there will be the occasional OOC disagreement, but this does not mean you can go and drag everyone into some internet drama war! Doing this shows complete disregard for our board and this will result in an automatic banning.
Thou Shall Not Bitch...
We the Mods do not want to be harassed because your character is not getting their way. Remember this and repeat after us:
RMT is a game, it is not real and I will always remember that!
Sometimes your character won't get what or who they wanted! Sometimes other characters might be mean to yours for no good reason! Again, we remind you this is a game! Some characters are just plain nasty but it doesn't mean their writers are like that as well. It's really not a personal attack against you, it's just the way things play out sometimes. This happening does not give you permission to have a douche moment - See rule number 1!!!
Legitimate complaints will of course always be heard!
Thou Shall Not Go MIA
•Yes we are quite aware that real life happens. It happens to all of us from time to time. Family and friends get sick or, God help us, die. Work can get really stressful. Many players are in college or university and have educational obligations. Real life ALWAYS takes precedence over the game. Sometimes absences come at us from out of nowhere. BUT, please if you have a real life issue that is going to cause you to be absent from the game, please, drop a note in the Leave of Absence area in the board or even the shoutbox area. These are the fastest and easiest ways to not only let the Mods know about your hiatus but your fellow members, too.
•If you can give us an idea of how long you'll be gone, that's awesome. If you can't, that's OK, too. We'll just check in from time to time (about once every month or so) just to see how things are going. This is just as much about making sure you are OK as it is to ask if you are coming back any time soon, likely it is more so.
Thou Shall Not Steal...
Just don't! Not from our boards or anyone else's! We all learned this golden rule when we were children and it shouldn't actually be a hard one to abide by! Once again, see rule number 1!!
Thou Shall Not Advertise....
In the gaming area. There is a section on this board specifically for advertising RPG's and any other kind of advertisement is pretty much useless, unnecessary and unwanted. Remember that.
Creating Your Account(s)
•Your login can be whatever you want. However, the Display Name will be changed by the Mods to this format: Character's First Name and Character's Last Name. If your character has an alias you prefer to use, you can obviously use that instead.
•Only one character may be played per account. Yes, this means you have to log in and out to play multiple characters.
•Your avatar may only relate to your character. Real life actors, singers or models are acceptable. No cartoon, anime or drawings allowed. No scene kids either. If you’re unsure, bring it by the admin. No pornographic images nor distasteful sayings. Keep in mind your audience.
•Signatures will not be allowed to be animated. Your signature can be comprised of text, a single pic or several smaller pics but it must not exceed the designated size. Your signature must relate only to your character. No advertisements are allowed in your sig, we have a advertising board specifically for that.
Character Creation
Characters are subject to moderator approval and should follow the general character guidelines. If you're having trouble creating characters, or giving depth to them, contact a moderator and they will be more than happy to help you out.
Kill Mary Sue and Gary Stu. It’s a epidemic and make sure you’ve vaccinated. It seems to come with the territory and we don’t take kindly to these kind of characters. A Mary/Gary is a character that is perfect, faultless and the spotlight is forever on your character. Essentially if you’ve created this character to satisfy a fantasy of yours, the door is that way.
If you think you might have created a Mary Sue, go here for a diagnosis: www.springhole.net/writing/marysue.htm
Please make the effort to read through bio’s on the site to try and ensure that you are not creating a character that is a carbon copy of one already being played in the game. If you have a character idea, and are unsure of whether it has been done (Or in some cases overdone) please contact the owners of Remember Me Tomorrow and ask them for advice. The Owners & Moderators of Remember Me Tomorrow do reserve the right to reject a character submission if we feel that it will overshadow another character within the game or if the concept is redundant. It is important that we protect the creativity and concepts of everyone, and we in turn hope that you will understand as we will do this for you as well.
When creating a character you must seek the approval of the players of other characters before making them friends. You can not assume that they will fit into that social circle. It is advised that friendships are developed with game-play.
Detail, Detail, Detail. Only fully detailed bio’s will be approved by the owners of Remember Me Tomorrow. When we ask for at least one paragraph to be written, we mean at the very least. Remember a paragraph consists of at least 5 sentences, nothing less.
*Please note that if you leave the group for any reason, your characters will remain here until we are able to write them out of the storylines they are currently attached to.
In-Character Conduct & Rules
•If you’re only here for the smut, this isn't the game for you. RMT focuses on character growth and plot, not hanky panky 24/7. If you feel the need your character to be defined by sex, use the fade to black or clearly label your threads. Not everyone is interested in reading it.
•Be aware of the general tone of the game. We are an adult real life game with elements of soap opera, and we do deal with some darker subject matters, however, we ask that you be sensitive to other players and be sure that violence and explicit situations are a part of character development through RP rather than incidental, gratuitous, and continuous (this means no repeated overabundance of sexual situations) Shouta also known as adult/minor relationships will not be allowed whatsoever. M/F, M/M, F/F relationships are allowed.
•Try to stay reasonably active. Especially if you're in a thread with someone. If you're tagging with someone else, please try to tag back to them at least every other day until the thread is done or arrange to end it if you know you won't be able to tag for a while. If you are not in any tags you can likely go a month without tagging in before you get a message from the Mods to see if everything is OK. This will not be a 'tag or die' message. It is just to see if you are all right, if you're having trouble with the game, or if you're even still interested.
•Don't be stingy in your posting. Unlike some games, one-liners are not banned...as this is more of a jp group. One-line responses can be good for dramatic or comedic effect but please use them wisely. Sometimes purple prose is just purple prose and really makes both writing--and reading--a chore. Use your best judgment regarding the length of your replies. The only time we have a minimum length requirement is when you are posting solo - then the post needs to be at least four paragraphs long.
•If you happen to be one of those who does like to provide a lot of posting material, please make appropriate paragraph breaks. Nothing says "don't read me" like a big blob of text.
•Do NOT use leet/chat speak or text shorthand in character. Period. You're annoying everyone else and making it difficult to decipher what you've written. Don't do it. Your posts will be deleted.
•Your posting style is your own. You may post in either the present or past tense. All we ask is that you be consistent and that you post in the third person (i.e. he pushed or she pushes NOT I pushed or I push).
•Do not do funky things with your text. Just use the default or the staff will change it back and we will gripe at you. (See Rule 1).
•Use of foreign languages are not permitted. So use English. If your character is foreign and you wish for him or her to use his or her native language then please use "{Foreign speech here}" to denote that it is a foreign language. This rule only applies if you are using the foreign language extensively. Short bursts of foreign speech (such as cursing, exclamations, etc.) are more than welcome.
•Do not Power Play. No controlling of another person's character. It is acceptable if your character grabs another by the hand to pull them toward yours but do not denote the actions of any character but your own. This includes auto hitting, you do not call the hit, it is up the other player to decide if it hits and how much damage it does.
•Do not God-Mode. You are not invincible, all powerful nor a god and, while he or she may act like it, neither is your character. You cannot dodge all the bullets, punches or wisecracks. Gentlemen, it hurts getting kicked in the groin, ladies it hurts being punched in the breast. Keep it real. If another player cannot denote a hit on your character, you cannot block every hit thrown at you.
•Misspelled words suck. Spell check. It is your friend, your best friend. Use it. It’s right there, next to the reply button and preview button. It’s not going to bite you, use it! It catches the majority of mistakes we make. Also, do not forget to make sure you have capitalized everything that should be capitalized and at least made an effort to use proper punctuation.
•In Character actions have In Character consequences. What happens in game is not a deliberate attack on you the RPer. Vice versa IC actions will result in IC consequences, good or bad.
•You are NOT your character. Just because you know something does not mean that your character knows it. Do not have your character know something they shouldn't about another character UNLESS you have cleared it with the other player(s) involved. Breaking this rule will NOT be tolerated. (See Rule 1).
•Do not jump into a thread unless you've been invited (or asked for permission from the members involved) or if the thread has been pre-marked as 'open' or 'anybody.' This is just common RP etiquette.
•Subject Line -Every completed JP should have at least the following in the subject line: Title of the post: day of the week, Week (1 or 2),time of the day (ie morning, afternoon, evening).
•All OOC (Out Of Character Messages) should be sent to the OOC Section. Please do not write OOC's in your tags.
