full name: Kai-Ling Tsung Paradis

sexual orientation: Heterosexual
occupation: CEO Tsung Enterprises
living arrangement: She lives in the massive Tsung family mansion
vehicle: Red BMW Series 6 Cabriolet

appearance: With golden skin and dark brown, almond-shaped eyes, Kai is a classic example of the “exotic beauty”, passed down through her Chinese ancestry. Slim and petite--standing at a mere five-feet, five inches, and weighing little more than one hundred pounds--and with a sweet, softly contoured face framed by her long, straight, blue-black hair, Kai is not what many would call an '"intimidating figure." After first meeting her, most people leave with the misconception that she is a delicate and fragile woman in need of protection. While Kai is slight in form, her tiny figure conceals a strength of will, intelligence, and personality that is often lacking in her much 'larger' peers.
style:Kai has a natural elegance that manages to shine no matter what she's wearing. She's pretty versatile with her clothing, no preferring one style more than others. She does take a shine to soft feminine dresses, but she can normally be seen in a nice blouse and A-line skirt while she's at work. She doesn't normally dress down, but even when she does, she manages to somehow still appear elegant.

general personality: Kai is a completely different person than from her younger years. She is fiercely ambitious and passionate, usually feeling a need to prove her worth in her career and her life. She is stubborn, often speaks her mind and is not one to back down from a fight she knows or thinks she can win. She is also witty, and if need be flirtatious. She takes absolute pride in the fact that she has managed to turn her family business around without much denting of her morals. She has a sharp mind and a sensitive manner, and for the most part stays calm and collected in any situation she finds herself in.
She has become rather skilled when it comes to masking her emotions as she found out earlier in life that showing any could be a dangerous thing. She has no wish to be seen as weak and becomes rather annoyed when people speak down to her or attempt to make her feel stupid. And while she has a true love of being around people and would love to have more than a couple of friends, she has some trust issues due to the way her life had unfolded while she was younger. She does love children though and while she raised Jared Lefabre's children as her own, she would love children at some point in her life.
Kai has a temper that's rarely seen but when it does come out, it's an awful sight to be seen. She can easily argue her points and point out the stupidity of someone's actions. While she can appear forgiving, she in fact holds grudges and it takes a long time to get over them. Those she calls her enemies are few and far in between, and to be in that category is the worst place to be because she might go out of her way to ensure their lives aren't the happiest. Kai is a woman of many mysteries, and even when you think you know her the best, you do not.

history: In spite of the rather 'colorful' business that her father and brother were involved in, Kai was raised rather sheltered from that world. She grew up in an exclusive neighborhood with few neighbors. She was raised to be a demure woman and respect the traditions her family and culture followed. She never questioned anything that her family asked of her, and in fact thought it very normal for women to be that way.
Kai has always worked hard, especially when it came to school. Her father and brother never wanted her to be exposed to their world, and as such, they always insisted that she study and make good grades. Even as a child, she exceeded their greatest expectations – always coming out the top of her class. She graduated from High School a year early and went on to begin a double major at UCLA on full academic scholarship.
With her second major in Communications and broadcasting (against the wishes of her older brother), Kai managed to get a part-time job at the well-known JS Productions. She managed to juggle both work and studies with relative ease, but it did put a serious strain on her almost non-existent social life. Though to her surprise, Brock Lefabre decided that they were going to be friends and slowly began to pull her out of her shell. He took her gambling and even to a few movie premieres – and even though they were only friends, the media had a ball trying to explain their relationship.
Shortly after that, she met and began dating Jaime Seda (not knowing he was in fact a hitman for Jared Lefabre) and was quite taken with him. She had no idea that Jaime had been ordered to carry out a list of hits for the Lefabres – due to the war her brother had started between the two families. Her father and a great many Tsung employees became casualties of the war (all taken out by Jaime), and Kai herself almost lost her life because of it.
Kai was suppose to be one of the final hits on the list Jaime was given, but by that time the two had fallen in love and Jaime realized he wasn’t able to go through with it; at the time he was actually getting ready to kill her. At the last minute, he instead shot her in the arm and ran off. Hurt and confused, Kai had no idea why he’d do such a thing.
At the hospital, her brother Yan confessed that she was the victim of the family war and filled her in on the real purpose of the family business. Shocked and dismayed, Kai didn’t want to believe it, but she had little choice. Shortly after that, she was informed that she was to go to France and marry a man by the name of Xander Paradis. It was hoped that the union with the Paradis family would put an end to the feud with the Lefabres, but the marriage never took place.
The night before Kai was to leave to go to Paris, the Lefabres sent another team of hitmen to take her out. Jaime though, saved her and the two ran off together. Not really sure where they were headed, the two just tried to think of their running as a road trip, though both knew their lives would be in great jeopardy if they were caught by the Lefabres.
Their time on the road stretched out into weeks, and Kai found herself drawn more and more to Jaime – despite the fact that he’d shot her before. She soon found herself in love with him, and apparently, he felt the same way because he proposed to her. She of course accepted and the two decided that they would get married in Cuba. Unable to help herself, Kai contacted her brother to let him know that she was fine and was getting married. Yan was not happy with this new development and sent one of his trusted employees - Jun – to stop the wedding before it took place.
She was too late though, and Kai and Jaime were married. Kai couldn’t have been happier and actually thought that maybe, just maybe her life would get back to some state of normality. Fate had different ideas though, and a few days into their honeymoon, Jaime was shot and killed. She at first thought her brother had ordered the hit on her husband, but Yan was as baffled as she was about the whole thing. He told her to stay put and he’d come to take her home.
Yan was killed before he could make it to her, and Kai was forced to escort her husband’s body home accompanied by a very hostile Jun. Things just got weirder when they arrived in Los Angeles – her husband’s body had disappeared.
Though shaken and distraught over the events in her life, Kai was forced to take control of her family’s business. She somehow managed to push her feelings to the side and began to rebuild the business into something she felt that she could deal with. She changed many of her brother’s policies – even though a great many of the employees weren’t thrilled with them.
Almost three months to the day that Jaime died, a former Lefabre adviser – Duncan Walsingham, approached Kai. He offered her his services, which she accepted, and then presented her not so dead husband to her. Kai didn’t know what to feel. She was overjoyed that he was still alive, but at the same time hurt that he’d allowed her to mourn for him for so long. She did know one thing though – it would take a lot for Jaime to get back in her good graces.
Over the next couple of months Kai spent a lot of time avoiding her husband (and he spent a lot of time sleeping on the couch) and more time being trained by Duncan in the ways of underworld. It was easier to focus on her training than confronting the problems that she had with Jaime. Duncan seemed to understand her and her need to avoid her personal feelings.
Duncan not only trained her in business matters, but also perfecting different martial arts techniques. He also informed her that her family was apart of a secret society known as The Sanctum and would have to make herself known the members. She threw a lavish party, in which Duncan began to tell her bits and pieces about the members – but not as much as Kai would have hoped. That night she also met Xander Paradis – the man Yan had wanted her to marry.
Through a whirlwind of events, Kai found herself sheltering Jared Lefabre's--the man with whom she was still technically at war--twin children, hoping to hide them from their maternal great-grandfather, Aristotle Paradis. After exorcising Jared (he’d been possessed) in the Tsung house, Duncan, Kai's husband Jaime, and Duncan's son Colby left to confront the more dangerous Vanessa; during which, both Vanessa and Duncan would lose their lives. Meanwhile, left at the Tsung mansion to take care of the twins and nurse a weakened Jared, Kai and Jun faced down Xander Paradis as he invaded the house, snatched the twins and shot Jared in the head.
Convinced that her life couldn’t possibly throw her anymore crap, she then found out her husband had cheated on her. After a confrontation with him, Jaime walked out and moved back into his apartment. Kai also confronted the woman Jaime cheated on her with – Belle Whitney-Prescott – and ended up punching her in the mouth after her temper got the best of her.
She tried to get her life back together, but life seemed to have other plans for her as the FBI were soon on her about the business dealings of her brother. Instead of taking the wrap for her brother's deeds she pointed out to the FBI that it had been Yan in charge at the time. Her mother and family found out about what had been said and felt that their family honor had been diminished. In order to save face and protect the family businesses from the wrath of their associates - Mingmei turned to Xander Paradis for help.
Kai was forced to divorce the man she had fought so hard to keep and marry one she despises. Though she was thinking that maybe the marriage might not be such a bad idea after all - since maybe she'd be able to get closer to him (at the urging of Xander's own mother and aunts and not to mention Duncan Walsingham's sudden reappearance), bring his guard down, save the twins and strike him down.
Things didn't turn out the way she expected, and she found herself having to drug her new husband to keep him sexually uninterested in her, though at the same time making it appear she might be interested in him. With the help of Duncan she was slowly plotting ways to bring the children away from France safely, though things with Duncan took a sudden ugly turn when Xander informed her that Duncan was the one who ordered the hits on her father and brother.
Kai enraged that someone who was suppose to be her ally would have done something like that decided to take him out of the equation. And she did so by poisoning him. The poison worked slowly and while he was dying, Duncan let Kai and Xander know that Jared had awaken. Angered, Xander shot Duncan and then lashed out at Kai demanding to know why she'd keep such a thing from him and also demanded she think of a way to keep Jared off her back.
Worried that his arch-nemesis was out plotting against him, Xander--on Kai's suggestion--brought Jared's children Alia and Anthony back to the states with the intent of he and Kai adopting them. However, while Xander and Kai seemed to be working toward the same ends, Kai knew that he didn't trust trust her.
Their worries about Jared eventually came to fruition when Jared successfully located the island where Xander had stashed Leo Paradis and Agent Iris Stanton. Caught, Xander faced felony charges for kidnapping and wrongfully imprisoning a federal agent and was being held without bail while Kai did little to help him. When she finally did get him bail and brought him home, Xander berated her and smacked her for becoming too mouthy with him. That was the final straw for Kai and after the couple was confronted by Jared in the house, and Jared pushed Xander down the stairs, Kai decided that she was going to let the law deal with Xander. She also decided that she was going to fight for the twins and that they would be much better growing up with her than their criminal father.
Luckily, fate seemed to agree with her and not long Xander's trial began, Jared was arrested for murder. Both men were convicted and that left Kai free to adopt the twins. It wasn't easy raising them, since she wasn't all that much older than them but she did her best. She also managed to completely legitimize the Tsung family businesses, leaving all the illegal aspects to her extended family. She's managed to open a couple more Xifeng Palaces in other large cities - one in New York City and one in Miami, Florida.
Now that the twins are out of the house, Kai is finding that she's not quite sure what she's suppose to do with her free time. She has attempted dating but still being married to Xander Paradis makes that difficult and while divorcing him while the twins were still minors was out of the question, she's beginning to think that a divorce is just what she needs.
