Grace leaned forward, her eyes scanning over the classified ads, trying to find something she could do for a summer type job. There were plenty of jobs delivering pizza, but honestly? She seriously couldn't see herself doing that. Or working in any fast food establishment. She'd probably have gone to ask Lila for a job at some point.. But she still wasn't talking to Allison, and she didn't really want to put herself in a position where she'd have to pretend Allison had never said the hurtful things she's said. She glanced up as Marco set a fresh cup of coffee in front of her , and she flashed him a grin. "I don't suppose you all are hiring..." She asked, her voice trailing off.
"Aww Gracie.. You know Ma would love to have ya workin here.. It's just.. Well things are awfully slow.." Marco replied slowly. "Besides.. You're not Italian." He added with a smirk.
"It's okay, can't blame a girl from trying.." She sighed and turned her attention back to the classified ads. "Hey, you think I'd make a good Go-Go Dancer?" She asked, her lips curving up into a impish smile as she glanced over at Marco again.
Marco's face reddened and he cleared his throat. "Gracie, please don't ask me stuff like that.." He muttered, looking down at his feet.
He hadn't been to this part of LA in awhile, but yet here he was. Jagger stood outside the cafe, vaguely remembering it before finally pushing open the doors. Kate was about to have the baby any day now and Jagger felt more run off his feet than he had ever before. He had a manager, but what he needed was someone to keep track of his appointments because Jagger was already starting to mess things up. He had been doing so well for so long, but now w/ith everything coming to a head, Jagger's head was just a mess. To the point where he wanted to say fuck it all and just..give up and...find a normal job or something. He sighed, running his hands through his hair as he made his way over to a table and took a seat. He was going to enjoy his meal, even if it was just a damn sandwich and he was going to enjoy it in peace..even if it killed him.
Grace chuckled, flashing Marco an amused smile before looking back down at the paper in front of her. "Ooooookay.. So No to Go-Go dancer..How about..." She bit down on her bottom lip. "Heck I dunno Marco..You sure you don't need any help here?" She asked batting her eyes at as she lifted her gaze to meet his again.
Marco snorted and looked over his shoulder as a tall dark haired figure moved across the small cafe and took a seat. "Quit bein a pain in my ass.. I'll be back in a few." He teased before he headed over to help the other customer. He stopped in his tracks, and his eyes widened recognizing Jagger St. Croix. He looked back at Gracie before pulling his pad of paper out of his apron and fixing a bright smile approached to famous Rock Star. "Can I get ya somethin to drink?"
Grace watched as Marco headed over to the other table and shook her head. She rose to her feet and moved towards the servers station to get herself a glass of water, but stopped halfway across the room when she realized just who Marco was helping. "Jagger?" Her eyes widened a bit as she stared over at him, not really sure what to think. She hadn't seen him in.. Well how long now? It was very.. Strange.
Jagger looked up at the sound of his name, trying to hide the annoyed look that was in his eyes at the idea that he had been interrupted yet again. Was it so damn hard to enjoy a fucking sandwich? He glanced first at the dark guy standing in front of him, "Water is fine..and a menu, maybe?" he asked, his voice soft as though not trying to call any more attention to himself. Then he looked over at the brunette staring at him and well, immediately? Yeah, he knew exactly who that was. "Grace.." he breathed, clearing his throat. "How are you?"
Marco quickly set a menu in front of Jagger before darting off to get the water Jagger had ordered Grace stood there, still staring at Jagger before she finally smiled at him. "Oh, I'm okay. And umm.. You? How are you?" Okay, this was just a bit awkward, not seeing him for months, and then to see him here.. of all places.
"I'm good.." he gave her a little smile and looked down at the menu. Maybe he was being an ass, he didn't know, but how else was one supposed to act when with the underage girl that he had removed of her virginity and had the fact that they were..whatever..detailed in the press? he had never really been trained on that.
Grace frowned slightly, and took a deep breath. Okay, so she hadn't expected him to jump up and greet her like she was some long lost friend or something. But, she had expected a bit more from him than he'd given. Maybe it was wrong of her.. But well.. She shook her head and looked back at him before offering him another smile. "Well good.." She murmured doing her best to hide her disappointment before continuing on towards the servers station where Marco had just poured a big glass of ice water for Jagger.
"Well?" Marco whispered.
"Well what?" Grace shot back frowning, quickly grabbing a glass and pouring herself a glass of water.
"Did you talk to him?"
"I said hi.." She muttered with a shrug.
"Gracie, that's not what I meant." Marco informed her, and picked up the glass of water to bring back over to Jagger.
"Jeez Marco, he doesn't want to talk to me, okay? Back off." She all but growled before heading back towards her table with her water.
Marco rolled his eyes before heading back over to Jagger's table and set the glass down on the table in front of him. "Decided what you want?" He asked, keeping his voice friendly.
"The chicken sandwich would be good..white bread, mayo..." Jagger ordered, looking at Marco, "that'd be great." He nodded his head and set down the menu again before glancing over towards grace again. Yeah, he felt bad..but what did she want from him? they hadn't spoken since it all happened...she hadn't sought him out and neither had he..and now? well, it was just a coincidence that they saw each other now. Right?
Setting her glass down at the table, Grace plopped down in her chair and drew one of her legs up, resting her heel on the edge of her seat. Okay, she needed to focus on finding a job, school was going to be out before she knew it... and then what?. She glanced over at Jagger's table just as Marco had walked away to had the over over to the cook (who just happened to be his mother), and caught Jagger's gaze as he looked over at her. Crap! She'd been caught looking. She flashed him a quick smile before quickly picking up her paper and peered down at it.
"Why don't you ask him for a job?" Marco asked leaning against her chair and looked over her shoulder at the paper.
"Yeah, and what kinda job would I ask him for?" Grace muttered trying to focus on the print in front of her.
"Well it was just an idea.." Marco huffed before walking back towards the kitchen. He paused and looked over his shoulder at her, a devious smile forming on his lips. "Well wouldn't that be better than say that.. Go-Go dancer position you were eyein' earlier?" He called out loud enough for Jagger to hear, knowing that would beyond irk Grace. He grinned again and darted into the kitchen.
Grace gasped and turned in her seat staring after Marco. She so could NOT believe he had just said that loud enough for.. Crap! She looked back over at Jagger's table, her cheeks flaming red before quickly turning and slouching down in her seat, lifting her paper up so she couldn't see anything but it.
He heard the comment about go go dancers and his eyebrows lifted despite himself. He definitely had questions...but who was he to ask them? He sighed some and just...looked at the table, studying the tablecloth and anything else he could that would keep him from looking over at Grace. Underage or not, the girl was stunningly beautiful..which was why he had done what he had done in the first place..but he knew that it wasn't enough. Besides, he had Caroline..sort of..right? and Kate. Christ, he had Kate and the baby..and...he had to get his hormones under some serious control.
After a few minutes of totally pretending to study to want ads, Grace sighed and finally dropped the paper back onto the table. Sitting back up, she glanced over at Jagger's table again, her jaw set while she thought over what Marco had said. Well crap. What harm would it do? She could like.. Just ask if he knew anyone who needed any help right? Surely he knew someone who needed someone to do.. Well anything, even if it was making freakin beds or something! Rising to her feet, she hesitated for a moment before slowly making her way back over to Jagger's table. "So.. Just so you know.. I totally wasn't eyeing a Go-Go dancer job.." She said wanting to clear THAT up right away. "Anyway.. I have a question for you..."
He was scribbling on a napkin, 10:30 here...11:00 there...1:15, had to be here..doing his very damn best to keep it all straight. He had interviews, sound checks, photo shoots, press ops...and of course, Kate about to give birth to his baby. Yeah, it was a breeze. He sighed, trying to figure out how to get to every damn appointment when he heard Grace's voice again. He looked up at her, eyeing her a moment as she spoke and finally, he just gave a one shouldered shrug, "What?"
Already she was regretting coming over to speak to him.. But she was here, and well she was just going to ask. "Okay, so school's ending in a few weeks, and I totally need to get a job so I can move out of my brother's place. Thing is? I don't think I could do the whole fast food thing.." She paused and bit down on her bottom lip. "You uh... You wouldn't know anyone who would need any help do you? I mean with..Anything. Washing cars, uh.. Cleaning, something?" She widened her eyes a bit, a hopeful expression on her face. "I mean.. Even you? I mean, if you needed help..cleaning? Maybe?" Okay, so maybe she was pushing it, but she really did want to move out of Logan's place. He was seriously driving her nuts.
He stared at her a minute. Was she serious? she was asking him for a job? He glanced down at the napkin with all of his scribblings and after a moment's pause, he slid it across to Grace. "Can you make any sense out of this?"
She blinked and looked down at the list before leaning over to pick it up. She studied it for a moment before glancing over the top of the napkin at him. "Honestly? It looks like a bunch of appointments that have been booked to close together." She sighed and sank down in the seat beside him. "See here?" She asked pointing at one of the appointments. "It says it's on 12th Avenue right? Well the next appointment is only 35 minutes later, but it's on the other side of town. You'd never make it."
"Shit.." he sighed. That's exactly what he had been afraid of. He reached his hands up and rubbed his face, trying to make some sense of it all before looking over at her again. He was desperate. He really was. "Know any way i can fix it?"
"Well..." She began slowly, tilting her head looking down at the napkin again. "Well okay, so the second appointment is a photo shoot right? And here it says it's suppose to be at Jefferson Park. There's a park right on 12th Avenue, and it's really much nicer. So maybe you could try to get them to move the shoot closer to where you would be. There aren't as many trees and the park on 12th isn't as crowded, so honestly I don't see why they'd have a problem with changing it." She looked at the name of the Photographer and grinned, "Oh! I know where his studio is! It's just a few blocks away from 12th. So, they'd probably appreciate not having to go so far."
He watched her for a moment and...well, taking a chance, Jagger reached into his pocket and took out his blackberry, pushing it across the table to Grace. "Take this...all the contacts that are next to the appointment? in here...if you can somehow make this schedule something I can get done then you've got yourself a job.."
Grace's eyes widened and she looked down at the blackberry before looking up at Jagger and flashed him a bright smile. "Seriously?" She asked before carefully picking the blackberry up along with the napkin. "Okay.. I can do that." She said with a nod before pushing to her feet. "I'll get right on this and let you eat your food.." She said seeing Marco walking towards them with Jagger's food. She flashed her friend a grin before turning and retreated back to her table. Okay.. Blackberry.. Sure she'd seen them before, she'd just never used one, and for a moment she was afraid she'd break it. She picked up the napkin and glancing over it, slowly began to scroll through the device looking for the numbers needed. One after another she made the calls that were needed, rearranging Jagger's schedule so it was manageable, and in her opinion wouldn't cause him to become a walking zombie. She'd rewritten his schedule on a piece of notebook paper, and she glanced over it.. Making sure everything made sense. Yep.. Addresses, times, what the appointment was.. Yep she'd done a pretty good job.
He sat back debating with himself it had just made a major mistake. Maybe he was wrong, but he felt as though he could trust Grace. After all, she could have sold their story and made loads of money but she hadn't...and that did say something to him about her character and also? He was desperate and he really didn't want to take the time to start interviewing strangers looking for someone he could stand..not when he already knew he could stand Grace. He ate his sandwich quietly, enjoying the silence and the lack of...brain power that he had to use at the moment and when she returned and he saw the paper, he looked it over and then back at her. "You didn't have any problems at all?"
"Nope, not at all." She replied. And she hadn't. "I was really surprised at how.. Well understanding everyone was. I thought for sure some would make a fuss about a location or time being rearranged.. But, they were actually okay with it." She flashed him a small asmile nd shifted from foot to foot before sitting back down in the seat she'd been in earlier. "So.. You were serious about giving me a job? What would you need me to be doing?"
"I need an assistant.." he told her, nodding his head towards the empty seat across from him. "So far, I've been trying to do all of this on my own..and obviously not doing a great job at it. I don't know LA all that well still.." he trailed off and shrugged, "And I have so much on my plate right now..." he sighed some. He'd have to obviously let Grace in on everything, if she was to keep track of his schedule and his personal stuff..well, she'd have to know. "I'm...well, I'm about to become a father and I've been trying to make it so that when my son is born, I'll actually..you know, be around for things...so I've been trying to get everything done now, but it's all just..totally building up and..I just need someone to tell me where to be, when to be there..and just..keep me sane.."
Her eyes widened a bit, and she sat there pretty much stunned. Wow! Jagger was going to be.. A father? A million questions came to her mind, but to her credit, Grace had always pretty much been level headed.. Well with an exception here and there.. But everyone made mistakes now and then, right? Right. But she'd managed to keep her mouth shut and nodded her head. His assistant. She could so do that. Arranging his schedule and stuff? How hard could that be? She'd just totally reorganized the one he'd done himself right? "Alright, well I can do that." She said with confidently. "So when do I start? I mean, I'm still in school for a few weeks... But I can come do stuff in the afternoons. Make sure your schedule for the next day is all set, and things like that.."
"Yeah, that's fine...I've been doing okay for this long, I think I can wait until you're done with school...that's around the time Kate should be popping anway," he commented with a wry sort of grin. "I'll put you in touch with my manager..and Faith will probably want to talk with you too. Faith Sanchez...JS Productions..in case you don't know..." he thought a moment, "it'll be more than just..scheduling stuff too though. I mean, I'd need you to run errands and stuff like that.." he looked at her, "Is that okay?"
"Oh, Okay.." Grace said with a nod of her head. That gave her a couple of weeks to break the news to Logan that she'd be working for Jagger. He'd flip.. But honestly? She was 18, so he could shove it for all she cared. She didn't show it.. But the idea of meeting some like Faith Sanchez was kinda scary! Not that she was scared of the woman. But she was big! She nodded again and took a deep breath. Wow, she was going to be working for Jagger. She reached tucking her hair behind her ear as she looked at him. Errands? "Of course.. But curious... What kind of errands and 'stuff' would I be running?" She asked, her brow arching as she finally allowed herself to relax and try not to show just how excited she really was about all of this.
Jagger looked over at Grace and for a moment, debated on his latest actions. OF all the people to hire, the underage girl he had been caught with wasn't exactly the best idea he had ever had..but at the same time, he had always felt like he could trust Grace...at least, he didn't worry that she'd turn around and sell his story to the tabloids anyway. And...well, she obviously needed a job and he desperately needed help..and he was kinda sorta seeing Caroline AND he had his thing with Kate that he still needed to figure out..so it wasn't like she was in any sort of danger from him. Anymore drama with females and Jagger was likely to declare he was gay!
"Well..mostly just..picking up things here and there for me when I don't have the time to do it myself...taking care of my scheduling and whatnot...just normal personal assistant stuff, I guess?" he shrugged. Fuck, what did he know about what a personal assistant did? "You'll just...assist me.." he paused and then shrugged again, "You know?"
Well luckily for Jagger, the last thing that Grace was actually thinking about was what had happened between them. It wasn't that she had forgotten it had happened, no it was far from that, and she wasn't pretending it hadn't happened either. Instead, she just figured it had happened, and there wasn't anything she could do about it now. And thinking about it, talking about it.. Just kinda dragged it on. So best she figured it was in the past, and unless it became some sort of problem, why talk about it? And to her, it seemed like Jagger wasn't wanting to talk about it either, so it was all good right? Besides.. There were guys her own age. Like Ben.. Though he didn't see her in that way. But whatever.
Her brow arched a bit and she nodded. Okay, so she was glad she wasn't the only one who wasn't sure what exactly a personal assistant did. But she was pretty sure over time one of them would figure it out. "Okay.. Well I can do that..." She stated slowly, her mind already moving on to the next topic on her mind. "So.. I hope I'm not going to come off as some.. Greedy person or anything.. But, uh.. How much will I be getting paid?" Man, she hoped she wasn't coming off as a money hungry wench.. But she did need to know.. That way once school ended she could look for a job, a car.. That kinda stuff, because she was pretty sure she'd need one working for Jagger.
How much exactly did a personal assistant make? Jagger wasn't exactly sure of that, but he'd assume they'd make fairly good money. After all, they were supposed to be around to run errands and generally make life easier for their employer, right? "Well...I'm not really sure. I assume I pay you out of my own pocket, so I'd obviously make sure that you were happy with whatever you made. I can't imagine working for me would be all that easy at times, after all.." he trailed off and shrugged, "I don't know..$1200 a week reasonable?" he chewed on his lip a moment and then shrugged again, "$1500 a week..plus expenses, obviously and when the baby's born, if you know, I start getting you to do more, we'll look into a raise. How about that?" It was a testiment to just how well Jagger was doing right now with his career that he could so easily afford that, but he had never thought much about money. He had always just wanted to play music.
Her eyes widened and she was sure her mouth had dropped open. Surely, she hadn't heard him right! There was no way she'd heard him right. She blinked and shook her head, because honestly? She hadn't expected him to say THAT much! She quickly calculated how much she'd make in a year and seriously almost had a heart attack. Her own brother didn't make that much money. She licked her lips and took a deep breath. "Really?" She finally managed to say, trying not to sound like some dazed idiot, but that's about how Grace was feeling about now. "I mean, thank you.. Really Jagger, thank you so much.."
"Is that to much?" She seemed awfully shocked by that and for a moment, Jagger wondered if he had just come out with too high of a number. He shrugged his shoulders and took a bite of the sandwich sitting in front of him, chewing and swallowing before speaking again. "There's no need to thank me, Grace. I've got a lot of stuff for you to keep straight and this baby.." he shook his head and allowed himself a smile, "well, when my son is born..I'll admit, it's going to get even more hectic so I figure you kinda deserve this money."
She shrugged, "I don't know.. This is is going to be my first real job outside of tutoring and babysitting.." she said, though she figured that Jagger had already figured as much. "But.. That's not saying I'm not going to do a good job!" She quickly added, not wanting him to think she wouldn't be able to handle this. Wow! She figured it would be a lot of hard work, and she didn't think it would be the easiest job.. But it was something she was willing to try. She flashed him a bright smile nad picking up the pen quickly jotted her cell phone number down on the bottom of the schedule she'd reworked for him. "Well, here's my number in case you need to get ahold of me.." She said, passing it back over to him. "But I think I'll just leave you alone now.. That way you can eat in peace."
"I'm sure you'll do just fine," Jagger told her, giving her a quick smile. She really was young, wasn't she? so damn innocent...he shook his head inwardly at that thought. She HAD been innocent anyway. Damnit. Hell, maybe that was why he was paying her so much...guilt, maybe? Who knew? "I'll give you a call, Grace. Like I said, I'll probably take you in with me to see Faith...she'd know more than anyone what needs to be done for me, right?" he smiled, "and then we'll be good to go..and I'll have a hell of a lot less stress in my life, for sure."
Grace nodded, relieved that Jagger had confidence that she'd do a good job."Okay, uh.. Just let me know when and where to be when you get things all straightened with her." She said, flashing him another small smile as she tucked her hands into her pockets. God, she hoped THAT meeting went well. She'd only heard stories about the woman, but.. They were kinda scary stories and Grace wasn't exactly looking forward to be picked about by the infamous Faith Sanchez. She scuked in a deep breath before untucking on of her hands and offering Jagger a small wave. "Well, I'll talk to you later I guess...Bye, and uh.. Thanks again." She turned and hurried back to her table, grinning to herself. Wow.... Personal Assistant to Jagger, how was that for luck?
Grace: Holly
Jagger: Tara

She paused and bit down on her bottom lip.
