Tapping her foot impatiently she waited as the Starbucks employee finished making her iced caramel latte. Man, she understood things were kinda busy and crap... But c'mon already! She'd been waiting for five freakin minutes! This was just getting stupid and she was just about to let said employee know exactly how she felt when chick turned around handing Beth her latte with some cheesy grin. "Thanks," Beth muttered, taking a quick sip of it. She turned, and ran smack dab into someone, causing her drink to be crushed between her and the person. Cursing loudly she took a step back, and looked down at her outfit. Great! Black sweatshirt completely covered in iced latte! How freakin great was that? Ah.. Oh yeah, other person involved in collision! "Dammit, I am SO so-" She cut herself off when she'd looked up and saw just who she'd ran into, and suddenly? She wasn't feeling so very sorry. "Oh, you know what? Never mind.. It's not that important." She stated with a smug smirk as she stared at Adrian Young.
Adrian bit his bottom lip fiercely, but not enough to draw blood. His eyes looked down over his jacket - which was ruined by the sugary, caffeine-filled beverage. He took a deep breath when he looked at the girl's face. Beth. From the shop... B&R. "Nice..." He said in response to her reaction. Adrian nodded and then laughed to shake the hard feelings off. "It's a pleasure to see you again too." Adrian shook his head and went over to the nearest counter for napkins.
She glanced down at her sweatshirt again and shook her head, following after Adrian, because really? What other choice did she have other than walking out of the shop with freakin iced latte all down her front? She tossed her now empty cup into the trashcan before she grabbed for some napkins and began to dab at the coffee which she knew just KNEW would end up ruining her clothes. She glanced over at Adrian, her brows slightly creased. "Do you like always stand so close to people when you're in line?" She asked, kinda implying this was all his fault.
"Do you always speed walk to the nearest exit with not even a glance to who may be standing behind you?" Adrian immediately wanted to take that back. He didn't mean to be so snappy. Unlike Beth here, he wasn't naturally gifted with such sarcasm... or so he thought he wasn't. But she was trying to make this look like his fault. She was the one who'd bumped into him. Adrian rubbed at his jacket, but it did little to nothing to help. 'Great,' he thought. 'Why the hell do I even try?' "I'm sorry. Regardless of who's fault it is."
Giving up on wiping the latte off of her sweatshirt, she unzipped it and shrugged it off. Thankfully the latte hadn't soaked through to her shirt! Draping the sweatshirt over her arm, she looked over at Adrian, a single brow arching in half amusement, half.. Well annoyment. She knew it really wasn't his fault about all of this.. But whatever. "Well maybe you shouldn't have been standing so freakin close!" She snapped back, and shook her head. "You were standing so close to me, I'm sure you could tell me what kind of perfume I'm wearing." Okay, so maybe that wasn't fair. But then again life wasn't fair and Beth no longer had an iced caramel latte! She glanced away, feeling kinda bad for being such a mega bitch to him. Sighing she looked back at him and shrugged her shoulders. "Let's just say.. We're both at fault..Okay?"
"Okay..." Adrian could actually see a difference. It wasn't a huge one, but it'd work until he got back to his place and changed. He tossed the napkins and finally looked back up to lock eyes with Beth and... hot damn, he couldn't help but notice how good she looked in a skirt. Finally! Man. Too bad she hated him. There was something he could do about it though. "Hilfiger. I think it was Hilfiger. Or Escada. But that's besides my next point. You deserve an iced caramel latte for your troubles. My treat."
How did men know that stuff? What the heck did they do? Walk around perfume shops sniffing every bottle so they'd have the scents memorized or something? It was kinda freaky. James always knew what she was wearing too, and yeah. still weirded her out. She eyed him, half tempted to turn down his offer for a free latte, but.. Yeah, she'd seriously been craving one all morning, and she wasn't about to shell out more money for another one. But.. Dude was offering her a free one.. She nodded slowly, "Alright," she said slowly. "But does this mean I have.. to be nice to you or something?"
He laughed. "I don't expect you to. Be as mean to your heart's content." Really, if she suddenly shifted into some kind of nice girl... hell, Adrian wouldn't be at all as interested in her. He'd be bored. Then he'd go back to looking for Piper... Piper. Adrian thought fleetingly of her as he smiled to Beth. He pushed that thought to the side and got back in line. "Wait, I do have an exception. You can't spill it. If you do I'll just point and laugh."
"Good, because you would have been sorely disappointed if you expected that." Beth said with a nod. She was half serious, but really. She couldn't help the way she was around guys. Most were pond sucking scum who were only after one thing. She still wasn't quite sure if that was a category for Adrian, and honestly? She didn't really care if it was. "Hey! I didn't spi-" She cut herself off though, because dude was only trying to get a rise form her, and she wasn't about to take the bait. "I'm going to be sitting over there," She informed him, pointing to the bar style seats that were positioned next to a high table. Turning she shook her head mumbling something about arrogant men under her breath and made her way over to the table.
He just shook his head as he watched her leave. Adrian would be lying if he said he didn't check Beth out as she left. Hello, he was a guy. He couldn't help the shit. She was wearing one of the smallest skirts he'd ever seen too. It did her body justice though. Wow. Next in line he ordered her drink and paid with ease. Fortunately they were moving faster this time around. Adrian walked over to her high table. "For you, ma'am," he said, sitting in on the table in front of her. Adrian flashed her a smile and then sat the straw down as well.
"Thanks," She replied reaching over and picked up the straw and stuck it into her drink. Crossing her legs, she picked the latte up and took a small sip, eyeing Adrian and half wondered why he was still standing there. What else did dude want from her?! She'd said thanks already! "Did you.. want something else?" She asked finally, setting her drink back down in front of her.
He shook his head and took a seat across from her. "No... not really." Adrian admired the view from the window for a while and then smiled back at Beth. "Did you?"
"No," She replied her brow arching. She lifted her drink again and sipped through the straw. "So.. Why are you still here if you don't want anything?"
"Free country. If I want to sit here I can." Adrian put a look of faux shock on his face. "Beth... you mean to tell me you want me to leave? You don't like my company? I thought I made really good company."
She shook her head, "What ever gave you the idea that you made good company?" She asked with a smirk. She looked down at her watch. "Oh my! Look at the time!" She exclaimed before looking back over at him. "Isn't about the time for you to.. Oh, I dunno. Get a life or something?"
"Damn," said Adrian with a laugh. He then pouted and hung his head. "I guess I understand why you're not interested anymore. You like being manless. It's fine. Have a nice drink, Beth."
"Oh well see? That's where you're wrong. I have a man, thank you very much." Beth pointed out with another smirk. "And a very nice man at that."
"Hmm... in other words, I should give up and retreat quietly?"
"Yeah, I think that might be best.." She said solemnly with a nod of her head.
"Still!" Adrian said, turning back around to face Beth. "I'm not the type to give up and retreat quietly." He flashed her a big smile. "I can't resist. I enjoy *your* company Beth, even if you despise mine."
She stared at him slightly bewildered. "Sooo.. You're going to stay here, knowing you have no chance and that I have a boyfriend?"
"I'm not going to try and steal you away from you. C'mon, you've made it clear I have no chance for now," said Adrian, nonchanlantly.
"Ah, I see.." Beth said with a slight nod and took another sip of her iced latte. "Well if that's the case.." She murmured and slid off of her stool and tugging her skirt back down over her thighs she closed the distance between them. She flashed him a sweet smile and quickly pulled the lid off of her drink and poured it over his head. "Even if I didn't have a boyfriend, you would never stand a chance with me. You are a slimeball." She flashed him a dimpled smile and turned placing the empty cup and lid on the table.
"Right," he said with another chuckle. "Have a nice day, Beth."
Adrian bit his bottom lip fiercely, but not enough to draw blood. His eyes looked down over his jacket - which was ruined by the sugary, caffeine-filled beverage.
