Killing the engine of her car, Brandi climbed out and strode towards her front door, unlocking it and stepping inside the dark confines of her house. She slipped out of her shoes, letting out a soft moan of pleasure as her feet were freed. They had been killing her after being in the shoes since 7 am and on top of that, she had been feeling ill for the last few weeks. Thankfully though, she was home now and with a sigh, she slid out of her black blazer, dropping it over the back of a chair as she made her way through the house towards the back, the house and yard both dark aside from the lights glowing from inside the pool, casting a faint glow throughout the yard.
Yan slowly made his way down the front stairs, his hands tucked inside his pockets. His steps were silent, and that was just the way he wanted it. He paused at the bottom of the staircase before turning and making his way to the back of the house where Brandi had headed. He stopped right inside the doorway to the kitchen and shook his head. "For someone so smart, you've made quite a number of mistakes. One being you not to change your locks Brandi." He finally said breaking the silence of the house.
Only a slight jump came from her at the sound of Yan's voice, but no other hint gave away to his succeeding in startling her. A small, almost rueful smile grazed her lips but she didn't turn around. She simply continued to stare at the pool. "Ah, but who's to say I wasn't already expecting you, Yan?"
"Brandi, I've known you for years. Don't treat me as if I were stupid." He was silent for a moment. "Like you did before. That was another one of your mistakes."
"Yan, changing my locks wouldn't have kept you out of here anymore than it would have my brother," Brandi replied, finally turning around to look at her former lover. "Why put myself to the trouble when it would solve nothing?"
He studied her, his gaze hard and unyielding. Finally he untucked his hands from his pocket and straightened the cuffs of his sleeves. "Did you honestly think Jared and I would wipe each other out Brandi?" He asked his gaze raising for a fraction of a second before focusing on his cuffs again. "A lot of lives were lost due to your.. little joke." He dropped his hands back to his side, and allowed his gaze to rest on her again. "You are the reason Kai was almost killed." He shook his head. "You do know what that means, don't you?"
"You almost did, now didn't you?" she asked him, her voice as hard and emotionless as his own. "I told my brother to take me seriously, and he never did. I told you the same thing and you were no better than Jared was. You dismissed me as easily as he did unless I served a purpose. Well, I proved my point and I don't regret anything." She crossed her arms when he asked her that question and she lifted her eyebrows, "that you're going to kill me? Go ahead Yan, I'm waiting."
A cold smile appeared on Yan's lips but he made no move forward, "Oh it's not going to be that easy for you Brandi. I'm going to make you suffer." He said, a faint gleam appearing in his eyes. Finally without warning he'd crossed the room, and one hand was wrapped around her throat and he pushed her against the wall. "And the ways I'm going to make you suffer? Oh Brandi," He murmured, gazing down at her, his thumb caressing her throat for a moment. "You're going to wish you were dead. And then.. I'm going to leave you alone, and when I do kill you? It'll be when you least expect it. You obviously like to play games. Consider this our last game."
"Promises, promises," Brandi whispered, her eyes locked on his own. Not one inch of her face gave hint to her being frightened or at all threatened by him whatsoever. She had been taught well. "I know exactly the types of games you like to play, Yan...I know them very well," she added, lifting one long leg to slide up the length of his leg, an arrogant smile playing across her lips.
His grip tightened around her neck and he frowned. "Hmm maybe not as well as you'd like to think," He said, his eyes darkening dangerously. He pulled her towards him, so their faces were inches away from each other. "It would have been one thing to just involve me in your twisted game, 'darling'. But you changed the rules of this game when you involved Kai." He suddenly slammed her back against the wall, his fury beginning to crack through his emotionless mask. He took a deep breath, his fingers flexing around her throat before finally he released her and stepped back and wiped his hands on the leg of his trousers.
"Unless you're going to kill me right now Yan, you might as well leave," Brandi told him, lifting a hand to smooth over her dark hair. "I'm not afraid of you and I never was..and unless you plan to make it worth my while to stay here, I really have no use for you...just like unless you're going to off me, what use do I have?"
His gaze ran over her and he shook his head, "You, my dear, have lost all your appeal to me." He rolled his shoulders before glancing casually around her kitchen. "Such a lovely house you have Brandi." He looked back at her and flashed her a knowing smile, "I'll be seeing you around." He chuckled before turning and headed out of the kitchen.
She watched as he left and after she was sure he had truly left the house, she walked back inside, calmly making her way to her bathroom to pour herself a bath, sliding into the hot water with a loud sigh, the heat soothing her aching muscles. She ran her hand over her stomach, frowning slightly. She needed to start watching what she ate. Weight wasn't something she wanted to gain right now.
