"Great!" she said, suddenly beaming again as she smiled. "It's Tyler's night off and he and Ben built this brick grill in the back yard and he's only gotten the chance to use it once, so, he's pretty anxious dive back in and show off his 'mad grilling skills,'" she playfully rolled her eyes. "So, it won't be anything formal. Is there anything Madeline really likes or anything she absolutely hates that we ought to avoid?"

He laughed at her statement about Tyler and mad grilling skills, "You know those mad grilling skills could save your life one day. You never know when you're gonna need 'em."
Thinking for a moment, Colby shook his head, "No, she's not a picky eater, though she isn't much for meat. You think Tyler could grill up some meatless skewers maybe? We'll bring a good dessert. She'll be excited that we're actually going to go out on a Friday night. She doesn't get to go out with her friends just yet. Friday night is pizza and movie night at home."

"Oh absolutely, I can pick up some cherry tomatoes, onions, peppers and maybe some squash and asparagus. I've been trying to cut down on the red meat anyway, so it'll be kind of nice to not be the only one not eating steak," she answered, waving off any concern Madeline's dietary habits would cause. Without bothering to ask permission, Kristen went further out on a limb and open her arms wide and wrapped them around Colby, drawing her baby brother into a hug, and rested her chin on his shoulder. "It's good to see you, really. I mean it."

Today was the day for surprises apparently. When he realized she was coming in for a hug, he bent down slightly and turned her embrace. He held the hug for a long moment, comforted by the closeness he felt with her after such a long time. "It's good to see you as well, Kristen." He leaned over and opened her door for her, "Thank you, Kristen."
As he closed her door behind her, he stood there watching as the car pulled away. He was determined not to disappoint her or make her regret her decision to reacquaint herself with him. He wanted her to be proud of what he was doing with the company and how he was conducting business now. There was a lot of catching up to do. He looked up into the sky that had finally cleared and saw nothing but blue sky.
